Pops purpose inc. 5th annual toy drive

December 2025

WHY 1736 Family Crisis Center?

Pops Purpose Inc chose to partner with 1736 Family Crisis Center because they are dedicated to serving vulnerable community members in the greater Los Angeles area. Its mission is comprehensively to help children, women, men, and families through crises, including domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, joblessness, poverty, human trafficking, suicide ideation and attempts, addiction, post-traumatic stress, and emotional and life-survival challenges, thereby improving their prospects for long-term housing, psychological wellness, financial stability, and success. The agency serves approximately 6,000 individuals directly through in-depth residential and nonresidential programs, and 20,000 through educational and street outreach.

1736 Family Crisis Center began in 1972 as a single Emergency Youth Shelter for runaways and street kids, including girls and boys who were abandoned and kicked out of their homes by parents or guardians. Programs progressively expanded beyond housing and basic life necessities to 24-hour emergency and longer-term counseling (including suicide intervention), advocacy, life education, schooling support, as well as detailed counseling and networking with schools, hospitals, police, child protective agencies. In 1981, the Center opened its first confidential emergency domestic violence shelter. In 1984, the agency developed Los Angeles County’s first – and for nine years, only – confidential transitional domestic violence shelter to give survivors and their children the broad-based counseling, job preparation, life-skills education, and self-confidence tools needed to rebuild safe, independent lives.

Pop’s Partners

As we think about creating awareness during these turbulent times, we wanted to go big with our efforts to help bring some brightness to the families in need. Our goal has always been to double past years efforts, but this year we are humbled that so many people are reaching out to participate, our new goal is to quadruple last year’s donations. A very special thanks to South Bay Credit Union, Uptown Cheapskate, Dadbod Apparel, and of course 1736 Family Crisis Center for allowing us to become a part of their family.

Coffee Co-op

As an avid consumer and longtime supporter of the 3rd wave coffee movement, Pops Purpose Founder, Brandyn Hernandez, wanted to create a co-op of energized individuals by blending two things he’s passionate about - COFFEE & CHARITY. Based on the 2020 success of Pops Purpose Annual Toy Drive, which started it all off by collecting charitable donations from coffee-goers at two local coffee shops, this year’s drive has gotten bigger through partnering with more coffee shops across the South Bay to help make a difference yet again. The goal is simple: let each donated toy brighten a child’s spirit during the holiday season, especially when this can be a very difficult time for some families. In a matter of 10 days last year, the nonprofit was able to raise over $7,000 worth of brand new toys to donate, but this year, the hope is to give more and reach more families & children.

First ANNUAL Toy Drive - DECEMBER 2019

December 2019, we did our first annual toy drive where the community came together to contribute TONS of toys where we donated to 1736 Family Crisis Center in Torrance, CA. We enlisted to help and support of Offset Coffee & Two Guns Espresso, our local favorite coffee shops, to help make a HUGE push towards getting the local community involved. This is the type of work Pops Purpose Inc. will be known for. Special Thanks to ALL who donated to make this our first successful event! Check out some footage from the event, brought to you by Pops Production Co.

THIRD ANNUAL Toy Drive - DECEMBER 2021

Our BIGGEST AND BEST YET! With over 35 donation boxes from across the South Bay, we had our most monumental year. We donated close to 10,000 toys! The sense of community and connection was strong this year, and in the midst of all of the global pandemic. We were struggling to decide if it was appropriate to even do the toy drive this year due to the safety and state of the world, but we are GLAD we went through with it. It turned out that people needed it MORE than we thought, and the level of generosity was overwhelming. To see everyone come tougheter was truly touching and our most memorable toy drive to date.
